I made a mini zerg cake for my lover for Valentines day. I had seen a few other cakes with the same design and I loved it so much I thought Id try to make one too. Its red velvet with cream cheese frosting covered with fondant. The Hatchery is built on top of a Hersheys Kiss (Its pink and purple for Valentines day!) and the Vespane gysers are caramel filled too! :3 Oh and the minerals are made of blue rock candy... seemed logical. :D

I've tried to decorate cupcakes and things with the mouldable icing sugar stuff, but it doesn't work for me. XD
The consistancies are different and baw.

I guess it does take some practice, one thing I've noticed with fondant is that if it gets too sticky I just add powered sugar so it doesnt stick!

Ahh, when I had a chance to play around with it we didn't have that. It just stuck to everything and wouldn't stand up unless we propped it. TT_TT

You can also use rice crispy treats, if you kind of play with them until theyre the shape you want you can then cover it with colored fondant to make a 3-D edible sculpt!

I guess that would work. .-.
We didn't have much to work with though. Little mice and roses were about the only things we managed to make. XD
